DNA Tests

Get A Drip and Lifecode Gx have joined forces to bring you a DNA test and personalised drip recommendation based on your own individual results and unique genetic makeup.

Why do I need a DNA Test?

Having a DNA test is the best way to find out exactly how your body responds to and metabolises certain nutrients. Much more effective than a blood test, it will tell you if you're predisposed to certain conditions or food intolerances/allergies, and will help identify your personal micronutrient requirements.

DNA tests can help to identify the root cause of any existing problems, help you to take action to prevent future health issues, and equip you with the knowledge of how your body responds to nutrients to help you achieve optimum nutrition.

How does it Work?

Your DNA never changes so you will only ever need one DNA test. After your test (a quick cheek swab – no needles!), your results will be analysed and you will then be given a personalised Drip recommendation based on your unique genetic profile. We have created two different tests to suit different budgets, which will give you your unique genetic profile related to the following lists of nutrients.

The Silver Test

This test includes a 30 minute consultation with a GMC Doctor to talk through and discuss your results.

Genes are tested that relate to the following nutrients: B12, B2, B3, B6 & Vitamin C, L-Carnitine, Glutamine, Vitamin D, CoQ10, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Magnesium, B12 Hydroxycobalamin.

The Process

  1. Choose which DNA test you want
  2. Purchase the test hereor in our clinic
  3. Take the test (if you take the test at home simply pop the sample in the post for analysis. If you take the test in our clinic then we will do the rest – it takes just one minute using our cheek swab sample kit)
  4. Your results are analysed and a bespoke drip recommendation will be created based on your own unique DNA
  5. We will provide you with a detailed report explaining your results
  6. You can then book in to have your personalised Drip

DNA Testing FAQs

Why is a DNA test better than a blood test?

A blood test is a picture of what nutrients are in your bloodstream at that particular time. You would need to have a blood test every time you want to check your nutrient levels. The DNA test only needs to be done once, as your DNA code doesn't change. Instead of telling you what levels are in your blood, it tells you how your body metabolises certain nutrients, and if your body needs more of them, to equip you with the knowledge to make better informed lifestyle decisions.

Why is a cheek swab the best way to do a DNA test?

All DNA tests use saliva or cheek cells as the sample type. The benefits being that they are easy and painless to collect, and are easily transportable/ stable.

Finger prick blood tests are used for point in time biomarker/ functional testing (not DNA), can be painful, need to be returned quickly (same/ next day) and don't offer any benefit from a quality/accuracy perspective (for DNA) compared to saliva.

Using a hair sample is more difficult to extract sufficient/quality DNA so it would be more expensive and there would be a high failure rate.

Why is DNA testing more expensive than a blood test?

DNA tests (which only need to be done once, as your DNA code doesn't change) are more expensive to process and analyse than blood/functional tests (which represent status at a single point in time).

Lifecode Gx has the highest standards of rigour, quality checking, validation, analysis and interpretation by qualified health professionals.

Some companies provide cheap DNA tests as they want to collect the data to share with pharmaceutical companies (and others). Lifecode Gx do not share client data or DNA data (anonymised or otherwise) with anyone other than the client and the  overseeing medical practitioner.

Do you test for food intolerances?

Yes, we test for food responses to gluten (celiac disease), lactose (found in dairy) and caffeine.

Why do you work with Lifecode Gx to do the DNA tests?

Because Lifecode Gx are the best! They have a 99.9% accuracy rate and they have the highest professional standards. Many DNA testing companies will sell your information to third parties such as pharmaceutical companies. With Get A Drip and Lifecode, your information is in safe hands – we will never sell it or share it with anyone but you.

Who is Lifecode Gx?

Lifecode Gx is one of the leading DNA testing companies in the UK. Their DNA tests are 99.9% accurate and testing is performed in their UK lab, meaning your personal data and test results are in safe hands.
